Hiking trail from the Vital & Wellness Hotel Zum Kurfürsten to the Paulskirche Kueser Plateau

In the middle of the vineyards, the Paulskirche is only approx. 2 km from the outskirts of Lieser. It is one of the oldest churches in the Moselle region. Many Mosellans sought refuge in the Paulskirche during the revolution around 1848. The origins of the Paulskirche go back to the 7th century. The church was built in several phases and got its final appearance around 1600. Until the 16th century, the Paulskirche was a respected religious center of fourteen villages in the region. The Paulskirche was also a well-attended pilgrimage destination. The largest of all rallies took place on Oct. 8, 1848. More than 15.000 people have attended this rally. It was one of the largest rallies in the Rhine Province at the time.
